BRENTWOOD, Pa.; October 5, 2026 – The Brentwood Borough High School Hall of Fame celebrated the 25^th anniversary of its inaugural induction by adding four graduates and honoring three additional Spartans Saturday evening at Salvatore’s in the South Hills.

The first Hall of Fame class was inducted in 2001; the induction banquet is held every other year. Brentwood HS teacher and HOF Emeritus Trustee Dan Golvash was the banquet emcee.

The two Class of 2025 inductees were Kevin Kissel ’74 and Mary Beth (Hartner) Nobs ’77 and the members of the HOF Class of 2026 were Ronda R. Henning ’75 and Deacon Peri Jude Radecic ‘78.

Two former members of the Brentwood SD staff received the Circle of Excellence Award - Anthony D. Chiappetta and Gary Cramer. The Spirit of Community Award was presented to Jeff Healy, a 1981 Brentwood HS graduate.

The seven honorees had a full day of activities on Friday, Oct. 2, which was Brentwood High School Hall of Fame Day. Their day began with a welcome breakfast at the high school and then each honoree visited with small groups of upperclassmen during two class periods. The honorees then participated in a panel discussion with all the Brentwood juniors and seniors, toured the middle-high school and were introduced at the Homecoming pep rally.

The honorees also were recognized at Friday’s Brentwood Homecoming victory over Monessen. Senior Essence Fedd was announced as the Homecoming Queen.

The Brentwood High School Hall of Fame was established in the spring of 2000 and the inaugural class was inducted in 2001. It is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised primarily of Brentwood alumni and one ex-officio member who is the high school principal. The Trustees attempt to identify alumni whose work has been distinctive in their field or who have made distinctive contributions to the community.

Lynne Golvash and Dawn Ziegler are the Hall of Fame Co-Chairs and members of the HOF Board of Trustees. Both teach at the Brentwood Middle School. Helen Hughes-Smith is Board Secretary and Kerry Huffman is the Treasurer. 

Also serving on the HOF Board of Trustees are: Norm Gatz, Julie McCarthy, Jennifer Pribanic, Deborah Recker and Harry Reinhart. Brentwood HS Principal Dr. Jason Olexa is an Ex-Officio Trustee.

The Brentwood Borough School District is located six miles south of downtown Pittsburgh and serves approximately 1,100 students. The district will open the new Brentwood Elementary School on January 6, 2027.

BRENTWOOD, Pa.; September 23, 2026 – Brentwood High School is proud to recognize senior Nate Javorski, who has been named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Nate’s recognition reflects his strong academic performance, dedication to his studies, and commitment to preparing for his future beyond high school. He carries a 3.92 grade-point average, is a member of the Senior Class Steering Committee, Student Council, the Health Career Club and the National Technical Honor Society. Nate was the Junior Class Secretary last year and has been a member of the Brentwood HS Spartan Marching Band since 8th grade, playing the mellophone.

In addition to his coursework at Brentwood HS, Nate is enrolled at the Steel Center Career and Technical Center, where he is a member of the Medical Professions program. He also is working toward a Pharmacy Technician certification at Steel Center CTE. He has excelled in the program while gaining valuable experience and insight into the healthcare field. Nate is president of Steel Center’s Heath Occupation Students of America (HOSA) chapter. He plans to pursue a pre-medical course of study in college as he works toward his goal of a career in medicine. 

Approximately 34,000 students throughout the nation were named Commended Students in recognition of their exceptional academic promise. These students are among the top 50,000 high school students who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
